Don’t Stress Out!

SPECIAL MIDWEEK POST!

Stress can be very detrimental to your health, your training, and your performance. Don’t let stress become a problem in your athletic career. Take the time to learn the ins and outs of stress. Luckily, I’ve done that for you in a quick video below. Embrace the knowledge.

For those of you who are not good listeners, this next part is for you.

How can we define stress?

  • Anything that causes the body to work and takes an energy toll on the body
    • Physical stress
      • Workouts
      • Games
      • Practice
      • Nutrition / eating habits
    • Social Stress
      • Mental stress
        • School
        • Daily obstacles
      • Emotional stress
        • Relationships
        • Cares

Recovery is about balancing and limiting stress

  • Stress as a percentage on a scale
  • All pieces add to percent
  • Percent cannot exceed 100% on a daily basis,
  • If it does, a lower stress day needs to follow to accommodate for the increased stress

Monitoring Stress

  • Mental and emotional stresses are harder to control, most of the time
  • Physical stress can be manipulated to fit into the scale

Decreasing Stress

  • Eating healthy
  • Sleep
  • Limiting social stress
